The Tetzlaff Quartett are rapidly gaining a reputation as „one of the world’s most fascinating chamber ensembles. “
Christian and Tanja Tetzlaff first met Hanna Weinmeister and Elisabeth Kufferath in 1994 at the Chamber Music Festival in St. Gallen. Discovering a mutual devotion to chamber music, they decided to form a string quartet. Already after their debut in 1996, among others places they gave concerts at Berlin Festival and at Schleswig Holstein Festival, they received impressive critical acclaim. Since then, the four musicians have been playing several chamber music evenings together every season despite their reduced availability.
In the past years the quartet performed at the Louvre in Paris, at the Société Philharmonique of Brussels as well as at the Vienna Musikverein. The Tetzlaff Quartett is particular interested in innovative chamber music projects as in Badenweiler 2002, where they realized a concepts by Christian Tetzlaff called „Through darkness to light. In autumn 2006 they played at the Musikfest in Bremen. 2007 they started off with a concert at De Single in Antwerpen followed by a re-invitation to Théâtre de la Ville in Paris. Later this year they will be giving concert among others at Gewandhaus in Leipzig and Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
